Think back over this past week. Can you think of a person that got under your skin? Something they said, or did that totally rubbed you the wrong way and left you in a state of obsessing about how rude, wrong, stupid, selfish, snobby, stuck-up, or ignorant they were?
The more something gets to us, the more it is meant for us to look at, and learn more about ourselves. Everything is perception, and it is all rooted in our own self created reality.
The more something irks, annoys, irritates and otherwise pisses you off in another, either also exists within you – OR you have a fear or insecurity of carrying this particular trait within yourself.
If we don’t hold some sort of belief deep inside about these things, then the criticisms and opinions of others would not phase us in the slightest.
If someone told you that you have blue hair, (unless of course you do) you would look at them like they are crazy, and it wouldn’t activate a response, because you know this isn’t true!
But if someone told you that you are lazy (and part of you has this insecurity that this is true) it would really get under your skin. Especially if this is something you know about yourself, and feel insecure about it.
You’d be looking for ways to defend yourself, or attack them back to take the heat of of yourself, and to divert attention.
It’s helpful to ask “where within me does, or has, this exact behavior or trait exist”?
Doing this one courageous act of introspection can dissolve any negative energy we hold toward another person almost immediately.
So, thank the people in your life, as well as strangers that trigger you, because they are giving you opportunities to learn more about yourself!
Use all opportunities where someone does something to drive you mad, as another thing you can look inward to dissolve at the root…within.
