Do you sometimes feel like you are broken beyond repair? Like something is truly ‘wrong’ with you and that this is just the way it is going to be forever? Have you considered just giving up on trying so hard to change, because nothing you have done has provided much result, or that continuing on the path of this ‘personal growth’ thing is pointless?
After 6 years of working with women in my private holistic counselling practice, I have observed as a common thread in ALL of them, no matter what presenting problems they would come in with, (depression, panic attacks, anxiety, relationship dissatisfaction, eating disorder, exhaustion and health challenges) is that stress, is a big underlying suffering and pain point that is manifesting in all sorts of ways.
But, even deeper underneath this, is a feeling and fear like they aren’t good enough just as they are. Or that they are flawed, screwed up, past the point of no return.
They compare themselves (negatively to other women who appear to have everything that they don’t.
They pile more, and more onto their to-do lists, while crowding out any chance of taking time for themselves.
They say yes, when they really mean no.
They lack healthy boundaries, and allow others to stomp all over them like a doormat.
They feel helpless, hopeless and powerless to change.
They lack clarity about what they truly want, never-mind how to go after it.
And guess what alllll of these habitual patterns create?
Yep, you guessed it! STRESS!
Stress is a symptom of an underlying issue. It’s not the real issue.
Feeling and BELIEVING like we have the power to change our lives is the most transformational realization we can have.
